We’re always on the look-out for new members, so if you’d like to try something new that’s great fun, really sociable and excellent exercise for the brain and body, then why not come and have a go? All tuition provided by a highly experienced Musical Director, and no previous musical knowledge or experience is required. All instruments are provided, and you don’t need to read music as all learning is done by call and response. The rehearsals are fast-paced and good fun, and each fortnight we leave with our bodies buzzing to a host of infectious Brazilian beats.
All adult flautists (aged 18+) are warmly invited to come along whether you play the flute, piccolo, alto or bass flute. We play 4-8 part harmony and perform regularly in a range of concerts. Repertoire includes popular classical works, West End show arrangements and new commissions. To get the most out of the group, we ask for a playing standard equivalent to about Grade 5 (you don't need to have taken any exams) and to be able to read music fluently.
For anyone in school years 5-13 who loves singing. We sing songs from the charts, musical theatre and traditional songs in two or three part harmony, but most importantly we have fun (and biscuits!) Come along for a free session.
The GBRT Community Orchestra are a friendly group of musicians that meet once a fortnight to play orchestral music together. We love having a go at a range of different music, so our repertoire ranges from small chamber-orchestra music and folk songs to full Beethoven symphonies. We like a challenge, but there is no pressure to be perfect which means our rehearsals have a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We’re open to instrumentalists of all ages – the majority of our members are adults but we also welcome under 18s who would like to gain experience of playing in an orchestra. There are no auditions, but so that you can make the most of rehearsals, we ask that you can read sheet music confidently. Our current members have a range of experience so if you’re not sure how you’d fit in, come along and try it for yourself. We currently have space in all sections so if you’ve been thinking about joining an orchestra, now’s your chance!
